Questions

Comparing real estate e-signature software: FAQ

What is the best e-signature software for real estate?

It depends on how you buy and how you work. If your brokerage already pays for a software suite with signing built in, that may be enough. If you choose your own tools, look for strikethrough amendments with initials, text and WhatsApp signing, a client portal, a clear audit trail and pricing without per-envelope fees.

Are e-signatures valid on real estate contracts in Canada and the US?

Yes, in general. Electronic signatures are recognized across Canada under PIPEDA and each province’s electronic-transactions law, and in the US under ESIGN and UETA. Check your brokerage’s policy and ask a lawyer about any document with special requirements.

What should I watch for in e-signature pricing?

Check whether the price is per envelope or flat, whether there is a minimum monthly fee, whether text-message delivery is charged separately, and whether you can cancel without a long contract.
